USP : Sterling Compounding Compounder Training – Who needs to be ready to compound?

Synopsis

All community compounders should be aware by now that during the pandemic, the Board of Pharmacy changed the state practice by formally recognizing “Registered Pharmacy Technicians”1 as well as allowing a limited scope of practice of these persons to assist in the compounding process in some practice settings. While currently these limitations include – “Services of a Registered Pharmacy Technician must be performed in an Article 28 facility or a facility owned and operated by an Article 28 facility.”2 It is logical that at some point, this scope must be expanded to all practice settings to better serve the citizens of New York state.
